The choice between shell and insulated ski clothing depends on factors like temperature, activity level, and personal preference. Shell clothing offers great flexibility for layering and suits intense skiing or harsh weather. Insulated clothing is better for colder days or if you prefer less layering. Either way, proper layering will help you stay comfortable in any conditions.

Ski and snowboard clothing should have a relaxed yet secure fit—not so tight that it restricts movement or compresses your layers, nor so loose that cold air can enter. Aim for a fit that allows ease of movement while trapping insulating air for warmth.

By following a few guidelines, you can keep your ski and snowboard clothing in top shape for years to come. First of all, only wash your shell- and insulated clothes when you really need to. For shells, use a gentle wash cycle with a pH-neutral detergent and avoid fabric softeners, which can damage waterproofing, breathability and is also bad for the enviroment. To reactivate the DWR coating, use a low-heat dryer setting after washing. For insulated clothes, it should suffice to air-dry the garments and shake the garment gently. While it’s not recommended, you can tumble-dry them afterwards on low heat with tennis balls to help distribute the filling evenly.
